The best time to photograph lakes is at sunrise as there is usually very little wind. This photograph is Sylvan Lake located in the Black Hills of South Dakota

A great place to photograph cool landscapes is Badlands National Park, South Dakota
A short, steep hike before sunrise from one of the parking areas in Badlands National Park results in views like this! The best thing about very early morning photography is that all the tourists are still sleeping!

If you have spent anytime looking at my various photography galleries, you would have noticed how many of the landscapes show trails, roads, or highways. I am a “car guy” and love driving! Images including trails, roads, or highways symbolize the journey or the excitement a person experiences the first time they drive through a new landscape.

Tail lights at night. Badlands National Park, South Dakota. You can tell how rough the road is as the light trails are not smooth and flowing!
